On Sunday the 29th of November the Eastern District of the Jamaican
Conference of UB Churches successfully had a joint
Missionary Service and was able to raise funds to help UB Churches
affected by the recent floods in the Philippines and missionaries in
Liberia.
The eastern district is comprised of 12 churches,
stretching three parishes in Jamaica. Members of these churches
traveled from near and far to the Washington Gardens UB Church located
in the capital city of Kingston to the missionary service to lend
their spiritual, moral and financial support to the missionary
endeavor.
The theme this year was, “REACHING THE LOST AND NEEDY, WITH
OPEN HEARTS AND HANDS”.
The service had two distinctive features. The first was that it had a
combined flavor by having participation from several churches in the
district, and second participants were able to not only hear but see
the urgency in the selected missionary fields through multi-media
presentations. In this way the main focus of this combined missionary
service was accomplished as it not only raised money for the
earmarked missionary fields, but also educated and promoted the
urgency to reach the LOST AND NEEDY, WITH OPEN HEARTS AND HANDS.
The service highlights included a video presentation on the
devastation in the Philippines by Mr. Andre Saunderson and
presentations about missionary work in Liberia by missionaries Dr.
Coril Warmington & Ms. Marian Stewart (you
can find out more about them at (www.faithanddeeds.org).
The service was coordinated by Pastor Barrington Johnson, moderated by
Rev. Courtney Morgan and hosted by
Rev. Dr Lloyd Spencer. The Eastern District would like to thank all
who supported this missionary endeavor, God Bless you. Please see
below 9 pictures of the service.
